Joshua Hogan’s paintings are soft, restless, and quietly insistent. Layers of color are scumbled and thinned until forms drift in and out of clarity, never fully settling. Florals, landscape fragments, and recurring heart shapes appear as impressions held in a state of becoming. Color carries the emotional weight of the work. Translucent veils hover over denser passages, allowing light, abrasion, and time to remain visible on the surface. Edges blur and re-form, creating a sense of motion that feels internal like breath or thought. His paintings are about sensation. They invite reflection on tenderness, resistance, and the unseen forces that shape us. Meaning gathers slowly through proximity, by staying with the artwork long enough to feel what is shifting beneath it.
